Lead Organization, Alabama FCCLA, is asking everyone to sponsor a Get Moving Alabama Walk for JDRF.  The JDRF One Walk for a world without diabetes should be tagged @alafccla or #ALAFCCLA and can also be shared on the FCCLA Facebook page.  For more information contact Jennifer Adams.

DECEMBER

Get Moving for Your Wellbeing

The benefits of physical activity spread far beyond just appearance and health.  Soak up the mental health benefits this month as you tackle the holiday season and send stress, depression, and fatigue packing.  Lead Organization: Alabama Department of Public Health/ @ALPublicHealth / www.adph.org.

JANUARY

Get Moving for You

The best thing about physical activity is that you can do it on your own terms.  You get to choose how, where, and when you move.  Physical activity is individualized. Get moving in a way that feels good to you–inside and out.  Join Scale Back Alabama this month to jump start your journey to better health!

FEBRUARY

Get Moving with a Buddy

Physical activity is easier and more enjoyable when you’re not alone.  Find a partner and get moving!  It can be a friend, family member, pet, co-worker, or someone with similar goals.  Work with that buddy to motivate and cheer each other on.  Lead Organization: Auburn University School of Kinesiology/ @AuburnKINES / Website.

MARCH

Get Moving on Vacation

Alabama has some great travel and tourism spots!  Explore our beautiful state and plan some activity into your vacation.  This might include hiking, biking, walking to explore, paddling, swimming, and much more!  Check out http://alabama.travel/ for ideas and places to go.

APRIL

Get Moving Outside

April is an excellent time to enjoy the warmer spring weather during both the day and evenings.  Get moving on local trails, parks, and outdoor spaces.  This is a cost-effective way to be physically active and enjoy the beautiful outdoors!  Our bodies were designed to move. Do what’s natural. Get Moving Alabama!

MAY

Get Moving to Support Local Businesses

When people walk, communities become more vibrant.  Take a walk with family and friends in walk-friendly downtown areas to support local businesses and restaurants. Tap into community events such as farmer’s markets and festivals that promote walking to support local business districts.  Also, look out for Mayor’s Challenges this month!

JUNE

Get Moving to Keep Alabama Beautiful

When people move, communities become more vibrant.  Physical activity keeps our state beautiful. When you move, you keep your neighborhood healthy, safe and more walkable.  When you move, you help keep our air clean, our water clear, and our parks green.

JULY
